Hello everyone, I am Mrs. Fasano and I am the guidance counselor at Memorial Elementary School. I am very excited about the program I have put together and look forward to working with all of the students. Here is a little general information about the program.
The elementary school counseling and guidance program is a part of the total school program and compliments learning in the classroom. The counseling and guidance programs are available to help students, parents, and teachers have positive learning experiences. These programs consist of a variety of services and activities, including: individual and group counseling, parent and teacher consultations, and group and class guidance instruction. The program encourages students' social, emotional, and personal growth at each stage of their development.
In addition, I am also the direct contact for the Intervention and Referral Services Committee (I&RS), the Section 504 Officer, the NJSLA school testing coordinator, and the Anti-Bully Specialist for Memorial School. The Intervention and Referral Services Committee consists of the principal, guidance counselor, a Child Study Team member, a classroom teacher, and the referring teacher. The I&RS committee has been established as a school-based problem solving group that converses monthly for the purpose of assisting teachers with strategies for working with students who are experiencing difficulties. The purpose of I&RS is to develop an assistance plan especially designed to assist your child within the regular education setting.
I look forward to working with you and your child this school year! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Have a great school year!

Mrs. Fasano
